Finally, those cold days are creeping up upon us urging us to don our winter knits and put on our trusty boots.

I love this time of year, and it can be made just that bit better by a few little things…

1. Tea, and lots of… Not only does it keep you warm but if you have green tea or herbal it helps you to ward off those tempting chocolates that you’ll start to crave!

2. Buy some super hydrating moisturiser (yes guys, this also applies to you!).  This is the time of year where our central heating systems get used to the max, and combined with the exposure to cold air outside, our skin can feel more than a little wiped out.  So, make sure you have a protective barrier to those cold winds, and super heated rooms which can dry your skin out.

I recently tried Clinique’s ‘dramatically different moisturizing lotion +’ which certainly does the trick.

3. Get stocked up on your vitamins! This is the time of year when everyone becomes ill, and the last thing you want is for that person to be you! Vitamin C is essential to help keep your immune system in tip top condition.

4. Find a nearby pub or cafe that has an open fire! Sometimes quite a hard thing for us city dwellers, but they are out there.  It’s spots like these that will keep you happy when your boiler breaks or you fancy something stronger than tea.

5. Get fully layered and knitted up! Layers are important as the weather can still be changeable it’s best to be on the safe side, therefore you’re never freezing cold or boiling hot. Also, it’s always a good excuse for snuggling up in your favourite grandad cable-knit!

7. Finally, use this time of year to eat well – and by eating well I don’t mean eating lots!  Harvest time has seen the best of our fruits and vegetables come to our local shops and supermarkets, so get the best you can afford and stock up on your seasonal veg.  Not only do they make great soups, but they also taste the best at this time of year too. Perfect for that diet you keep putting off ;).
