So, gone are the days when La Senza was at the height of the high-street lingerie selection, now people are taking their undergarments a bit more seriously…

This probably has a direct correlation with the massive increase in erotic literature in 2012, but also as a generation we are becoming more and more open about our sex lives (a hard concept for us tight-lipped Brits!).

With this in mind, high-street lingerie stores are fighting a battle of alluring new, and inquisitive shoppers to their stores.  Of course there will always be the separation between the high-end couture of Agent Provocateur, and the likes of Ann Summers; alas, a new breed of sellers are emerging (and thank the Lord for that).

Recently, I ventured into one of the up and coming lingerie stores in the UK, and this was the Italian bred Intimissimi.  This brand has been up and running since 1998, and tailors to the needs of the amorous European… I think Italian designers whether for lingerie, clothing, or shoes, will always have that extra nod to detail and finesse.  This comes across superbly with Intimissimi.

Intimissimi caters for most sizes and shapes but has more of a range for sizes 6-12 (even though Italian women are famous for their curves!).  I was impressed with the options available when it came to style versus comfort; my only qualm would be the sizing on the labels which are in Italian form.

Once you’ve identified your Italian size, of course it is easy, off you go on your discovery for your dream lingerie set… Like many foreign brands they tend to hire Italian speakers in their stores, this definitely adds to the indulgence of buying Italian lingerie (customer service is great too – as I discovered after changing my mind multiple times over items I wished to try on!).

It’s safe to say I’ve found an upper high-street brand which I am confident in, and will trust to fulfill my lingerie needs of the future.  Prices range from around £20-30 for bras, and £5-15 for underwear.   Who needs H&M and M&S?  If you’re going to do something, do it with some Italian stilo.
